What’s Your Must Have Piece of Running Kit – Mine is my FlipBelt

Most runners have a favourite piece of kit, that they feel lost without, for many its their sportswatch, for some its some lucky underwear, for me its my FlipBelt

I first heard about FlipBelts when I visited the Virgin Money London Marathon Expo last year, I thought about buying one then but at £25 I wasn’t sure, my friend who was running the marathon last year did however buy one, I was sceptical running 26 miles with something you hadn’t trained with, say it fell down or rode up, that would drive me crazy

Luckily for Jemma, the size FlipBelt recommended for Jemma fitted her perfectly and she loved it, it held her iPhone, iPod, cash, travelcard, jelly beans & gels

So after Jemma’s raving about the FlipBelt I have wanted one of my own, but I wanted to try one on so I knew I had the right size, unfortunately unless you are in Cornwall FlipBelts haven’t really made it onto the High St yet and are only sold by online retailers, but lucky for me a FlipBelt arrived in my November Joggbox (I will do a review about my Joggbox subscription next month)

So what is a FlipBelt?

Here is what FlipBelt have to say about their product

READY, SET, FLIP

Gone are the days of baggy sweat pants with bulky pockets. Active wear is sleeker and more stylish than ever before. The only problem is there’s nowhere to hold your phone, music and keys. That’s where FlipBelt comes in. Who would have thought a singular tubular waistband could solve one of the biggest nuisances that athletes face—where to tuck must-have items while exercising.

Every bit as flattering and contoured as the rest of today’s athletic wear, FlipBelt is designed to carry your on-the-go essentials without tying up your hands. Made of a moisture-wicking, spandex-lycra blend, FlipBelt slides right on and sits snug on your hip. No bulk. No bounce. FlipBelt is also machine washable and machine dryable.

To keep items secure, all you have to do is flip the belt inward. Now, everything you need while exercising fits right around your waist.  Find out more: FAQ

FlipBelts come in a variety of colours, I was sent the Carbon one in my Joggbox, was it the colour I’d have chosen, hell no!! I’d have gone for the Hot Pink, Neon or Aqua but does that stop me loving my FlipBelt, never

I honestly can’t begin to explain how much I love it, unless you have experienced a race like my disastrous Royal Parks Half, where you have you gels, phone, money, train ticket all in a little belt that bounce around as you run, I don’t realise I am even wearing the FlipBelt,  the only time it has ever felt a little uncomfortable when I ran was when I carried my iPhone and my husband’s iPhone 6s, but with a quick adjustment to where things were positioned I was able to continue my run forgetting it was there

So far I have clocked up over 100 running miles wearing my FlipBelt with only that one teeny problem and in the run up to the marathon there will be hundreds more, so I may have to treat myself to another colour at the Expo

  1. I really want one of these because my iPhone 6 is massive and doesn’t fit in any pockets, and I can’t be doing with those arm-straps to hold phones. I’m not quite ready to shell out £25 for it yet though!
